Brevoort Island is one of the many small islands that are located
along the highly fractured and indented eastern and northern coasts of Baffin Island. The island
is located off the southwestern side of Baffin Island, facing the waters of the Davis Strait, opposite the Cumberland Peninsula.
In the above low-resolution image, Brevoort Island lies at the centre of the image.
At 271 km² in area, Brevoort Island is narrow and elongate in appearance with a maximum northwest to southeast length of 46 km; average widths across the island are between 5 km and 7 km. Terrain rises steeply from the coast to a hilly interior with average elevations of 250 m to 360 m, with the northern half of the island being more elevated than the south.
