Santiago

At 991 km² in area, São Tiago (Santiago) is the largest of the Cape Verde Islands. It lies within the center of the southern Leeward Group, situated 25 km west from Maio and 55 km east from Fogo. The island is orientated northeast to southwest, measuring 55 km in length and 29 km in width.

São Tiago is mountainous, rising to a height of 1,392 m above sea level at the Pico da Antónia in the central mountain range
