The other small islands that comprise the Tristan da Cunha Group are all uninhabited. They include Inaccessible Island (located 32 km southwest of Tristan) and Nightingale Island located 19 km to the southeast of Inaccessible Island. The smaller islands of Stoltenhoff and Middle Island are rocky outcrops lying close to the northern coasts of Nightingale Island. The Tristan da Cunha Group has a total land area of 135 km² — 98 km² of this being taken up by the groups main island of Tristan da Cunha.

Inaccessible Island consists of a high, peat bog-covered, flat-topped island that rises to height of 560 m above sea level and measuring 4.5 km across and 5.7 km in length. The island is lined by tall crumbling cliffs of up to 350 m in height that give way to lower slopes on the northwest side. Inaccessible Island is an important habitat for large populations of birds, including: the Rockhopper Penguin (Eudyptes chrysocome), Greater Shearwater (Puffinus gravis), Yellow-nosed Albatross (Diomedea chlororhynchos), an endemic Tristan Thrush (Nesochicla eremita), and the Flightless Rail (Atlantisia rogersi) — the world's smallest flightless bird. There are also colonies of the Antarctic (Kerguelen) Fur Seal (Arctocephalus tropicalis).
