Arorae

Southernmost of the Gilbert Islands, Arorae is located in the far southeastern reaches of the Gilbert Islands, lying 85 km southeast from Tamana and 135 km south from Nikunau. The island is a low and flat coralline island, with an elongated form, measuring 9 km in length and averaging around 1 km in width, with an area of 7.6 km². The entire island is surrounded by a narrow fringing reef.
