Vostok is a small (0.24 km²), triangular-shaped, low coral island of the southern Line Islands, located 230 km west from Millennium Atoll. The island is conserved as the Vostok Island Wildlife Sanctuary protecting important breeding colonies of seabirds such as the Red-footed Booby (Sula sula), Great Frigatebird (Fregata minor), Lesser Frigatebird (F. ariel), Black Noddy (Anous minutus) and White Tern (Gygis alba).
