Majuro

The administrative and main population centre of the Marshall Islands, Majuro is a large rectangular-shaped atoll of the Ratak chain of atolls, lying immediately to the northwest of Arno.
The atoll consists of around 64, islets with an area of 9.2 km², that lie scattered around a large lagoon of some 295 km². Majuro Atoll measures around 41 km in length, with a maximum width of 11 km. The lagoon is generally deep, being shallowest in the west with depths of 20 to 40 m; the eastern regions of the lagoon are deeper with average depths of between 40 and 65 m.
