Lavongai (New Hanover)

Located in the Bismarck Archipelago, the 1,190 km² island of Lavongai (also known as New Hanover) lies off the northern tip of New Ireland to which it is connected by a series of small islands and reefs (at right edge of the image). The island is roughly oval-shaped measuring 58 km by 31 km.
