Vokeo (also known as Wogeo) lies in deep waters 53 km off the coast of northern PNG's East Sepik Province. It is the westernmost of a chain of small mountainous islands that run parallel to the coast — the group also includes Koll, Wei, Blup Blup, and Bam. The group is often referred to as the Schouten Island Group — but is not to be confused with the Schouten Islands that lie at the head of Geelvink Bay located in the Irian Jaya province of Indonesia (the western half of the island of New Guinea).
